Excellent Ergonomics, QC could improve 18.04.2018
Excellent design and ergonomics. Nothing else on the market comes close to striking the exact balance between extra length and shape for ease of use and comfort for use and concealment. It does seem however that Tango Down's QC could be tightened up. One out of a few usually requires fitting to free up in the mag release track. You can run the mag catch/release down the face of a file, even on both sides until it fits well and moves against the resistance of the mag spring. An example of one that needed fitting was nearly stuck in place in the magazine catch/release track on multiple Glocks. It required excessive force to release.
I changed my Rating! 16.04.2018
Originally I installed this within my GEN 4 model 22 Glock, and I did not perceive a noticeable difference. It looked to be very similar to the OEM Glock part. I was not happy to have spent money on a part that was not needed.
I was disappointed with the fact that I could not do a mag release with only one hand. I had purchased the Vickers Tactical slide release and I was very impressed with its design. So I was somewhat confused why the Vickers Tactical mag catch was not working one-handed.
I reached out to Tango Down, and asked to speak with someone that could enlighten me on how to properly use the mag release. I was very impressed with the fact that they forwarded my call to their specialist. In case you have not dealt with Tango Down before, let me tell you, they are a class act!
I was informed that the design of the Vickers Tactical mag release enables you to release the magazine one-handed if you have medium to lage hands. For smaller hands, like mine, it requires a slight release of the grip a bit in order to release the mag. I was able to take my middle finger and use the trigger guard as a brace and use my thumb to release the magazine one-handed.
The design of the Vickers Tactical part is engineered to have a bump up near the end of the mag release to provide the necessary leverage to engage the mag release. This would not have been possible with the OEM part, since I would have to stretch my thumb out even further towards the front of the pistol.
Please take a look at the pictures that I posted on the different sides of the pistol showing how to brace the pistol one handed with smaller hands.
